Libraries Ireland Book Festival Illustration

The Libraries Ireland Book Festival is happening throughout October and November with tons of great events with authors, illustrators and librarians.

This is the illustration I made for the book festival, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with the libraries and with Southern agency, who did the branding.

The idea behind the illustration is a small city made of books with two children reading and experiencing the magic inside their literary world.

I have a pirate ship sailing on a sea made from an ipad, a garden gnome stopping to buy ice cream from a tiny ice cream van. Or is it really tiny at all?

Scroll down to see my initial sketch and some of the characters inspired by books – King Kong, Dracula, Pirates, Astronauts, Jazz Players, a T-Rex with a friendly dog, and a Mr. Whippy Ice Cream van.
