This project involved illustrating a California map and set of icons for the cover of the book “Governing California in the 21st Century” published by W.W. Norton.
As well as the usual California landmarks of Hollywood, Golden Gate Bridge and Sacramento, the icons had to reflect many of the social problems facing California which are included in the book. Forest fires, drought, border immigration, police accountability, protests against racism, fossil fuels versus sustainable energy and farm workers rights. Phew!
