Ring the klaxon! There are some new doggies in town.
Drawing The Dog started as a personal project about three years ago. Very shortly after my Dad died, one of our beloved dogs, Otto also died.
In an attempt to distract myself from grief, I decided to set myself the project of drawing every dog breed. There are over 400 recognised breeds.
These inital drawings were in my sketchbook in pencil, pen and ink, crayons, watercolour and whatever other scribbly tool I felt like.
Over time, I brought some of the sketches into Photoshop and drew colour versions and refined them a little bit. I’m combining my colour illustrated dogs with various graphic design styles, such as vintage labels and Bauhaus to make dog wall art.
I’ve really enjoyed putting together a few collections – the “Appreciation Society” has over 120 breeds at the time of writing. These are all available from the Drawing The Dog Shop. I’ve been working on the website on and off for the last six months, and I guess I need to share it at some stage. So here it is!
I also have an instagram account – Drawing The Dog
If you’re looking for a unique gift for a dog lover, how about an art print?
