Women On Bicycles illustrated by Jennifer Farley Feature

ROTHAIOCHT NA MBAN (WOMEN ON BICYCLES) 1916

To commemorate the role of women in the 1916 Rising, Fingal County Council commissioned me to create a set of illustrations and designs to promote their event called RothaÍocht na mBan (Women on Bicycles). A variety of women from different social classes played a huge role in the Rising but have often been forgotten. As well as the illustrated characters, I designed a 3 metre banner which was carried by women in period costume in a parade. I designed a tri-fold brochure, a set of posters and flyers and a set of newspaper advertisements.

I absolutely love working on historical character illustrations and this one was great fun. Here you can see some of the promotional materials and the illustrations.
