This is illustration was created for Uniquely Dublin competition and features a map of the Phoenix Park in Dublin. On the map, you can see Dublin Zoo, Aras An Uchatarain (where the president lives), the wellington monument and some families and park visitors enjoying this beautiful area. I’m delighted to say that this map WON the graphic design category of the competition.
Here’s the blurb for what they were looking for.
We’re looking for entries that celebrate Dublin today. If you have something original to say, we want to hear it. Show us something that surprises or delights us. It could be a cartoon of your favourite character or a poem on Sandymount Strand. It could be a poster for the new Dublin or a piece of local slang as we’ve never seen or heard it before. It could be a painting, a slogan, a piece of propaganda or even a song. Make us look at Dublin with fresh eyes. Your eyes.
There were seven categories in which work can be entered; Film, Animation, Photography, Graphic Design, Written Word, Visual Arts and Music and the judging panel included Robert Ballagh – Visual artist, Moya Doherty – Producer and co-founder of Riverdance, James Hanley – Visual artist, board member of the National Gallery of Ireland and Peter Pearson – Historian, conservationist and visual artist, amongst many people at the top of their field.
